Kenickie is Danny Zuko's best friend and second-in-command of the T-Birds. He is the boyfriend of Betty Rizzo, who he proposes to at the end of the film. He has a passion for cars and restored his own car, Grease Lightning, with the help of the T-Birds.

Physical Appearance[]

Kenickie is a high school senior and is seen throughout the movie sporting typical greaser attire: a black leather jacket with a white T-Birds logo on the back, dark blue jeans, a pale blue T-shirt, a silver chain around his neck, and black engineer boots. His facial features consist of baby blue eyes, sun kissed skin, and dark-blond hair always styled in either a pompadour or an elephant trunk, like Danny, with a cigarette tucked behind one ear. Kenickie is tall and slender, with toned features and muscular arms from his summer job of lugging boxes at Bargain City.

Personality[]

As a T-Bird, Kenickie usually hides any "soft" emotions, like caring and kindness in favor of keeping up his bad boy image. He gave Danny Zuko a "What's going on here?" look when Danny was in shock seeing Sandy Olsson again. When Sandy told Danny he was a fake and a phony and ran away, Kenickie made the odd comment: "I wonder if she carries silver bullets." That could have been a reference to Danny's rapid transformation from nice guy to werewolf.

He was especially cruel to Patty Simcox and often pranked her. He hid a frog in her bag in the middle of class, and while she was dancing, he lifted her dress high above her head, exposing her panties to the whole school and live television cameras.

He did have a deeper side, though. When he and Danny are right outside the Frosty Palace (an ice cream parlor), he seems to be annoyed at the Scorpions for driving into T-Birds territory, and their hangout of all places, but when he turns to Danny, who has a sad facial expression, he softens up and ask: "Hey Danny, what's up? Are you still thinking about that chick?" but Danny denies it. Even though Kenickie misunderstood Sandy when he first met her, he thought she was very beautiful, but he was still surprised that Danny liked "old-fashioned girls."

At the Drive-in, he's told that Rizzo's knocked up, and while he talks to her about it, he says: "I don't run away from my mistakes." and Rizzo answers: "It was somebody else's mistake." and Kenickie thanks Rizzo for letting him know.

Kenickie shows his love for Rizzo at the end of the film when he expresses concern for her welfare: "Rizzo! Rizzo! Get off of that thing in that condition!" Rizzo tells him to forget it, because it was a false alarm, and, she's not pregnant. Kenickie is overjoyed, and they get back together.
